Pink Floyd Performing ‘Wish You Were Here’ With Stéphane Grappelli

I never in a million years would have imagined Pink Floyd working together with the French jazz violinist Stephan Grapelli. Grapelli, who died in 1997, happened to be recording in an adjacent studio at EMI when Pink Floyd was recording the album Wish You Were Here. After being asked if he would like to play a little, this recording of the song Wish You Were Here was made. It’s a really wonderful version of this song and perhaps even better than the original that made it to the final cut. Floyd drummer Nick Mason recently said that it was believed the track was recorded over and lost forever. So it’s a miracle this was found at all.
