Carl Stalling, Looney Tunes Cartoons Musical Genius

When people think about the creators of Loony Tunes, they think Chuck Jones, Mel Blanc, perhaps Friz Freleng. But I’m willing to bet that a small percentage of Lonny Tunes fans can tell you who composed the music to all those classic cartoons. Carl Stalling, in my opinion, is one of the forgotten geniuses of the mid-20th century. Cranking out one score per week for Warner Brothers cartoons, Stallings single handedly wrote the book on how cartoon music should be written, although for many years after his retirement and death, canned music was used until later on.

Here is audio of a rehearsal Stalling had with his orchestra for an upcoming cartoon at the time.
